Position: Construction Foreman
Location: 1544 2nd Ave, Des Moines, IA
Job Responsibilities:
Supervising work crew: The foreman oversees the work of construction workers, subcontractors, and other laborers on the job site. They ensure that tasks are performed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications.
Drive to assigned jobsites in timely manner: Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is required.
Scheduling and coordination: create work schedules, assign tasks to workers, and ensure that deadlines are met. This involves coordinating with other trades, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain workflow and avoid delays.
Safety oversight: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols is a crucial responsibility. The foreman must promote a safe working environment, conduct regular safety meetings, and enforce safety policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
Quality Control: Monitoring the quality of workmanship and materials is essential. The foreman inspects completed work to ensure it meets standards and specifications before proceeding to the next phase of construction.
Reading and interpreting plans: Review construction plans, blueprints, and drawings to understand project requirements and ensure that work is executed accordingly. This includes interpreting technical details and communicating instructions to the crew.
Problem solving: Addressing issues and resolving conflicts that arise on-site is a key aspect of the foreman’s role. They must be able to troubleshoot problems, make decisions quickly, and adapt plans as necessary to keep the project on track.
Communication: Serving as a liaison between management, clients, subcontractors, and workers requires strong communication skills. The foreman relays information about project progress, changes in plans, and any issues that may impact the project timeline or budget.
Equipment management: Coordinating the use of construction equipment and machinery is part of the foreman’s responsibilities. They ensure that equipment is properly maintained, operated safely, and used efficiently to maximize productivity.
Training and development: Providing guidance and training to less experienced workers is often part of this role. They may mentor new hires, demonstrate proper techniques, and promote skill development among the crew.
Documentation: Keeping accurate records of daily activities, work progress, materials used, and personnel hours is essential. This documentation helps track project milestones, monitor expenses, and provide information for project reporting.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
